Meet the Team: Sarah Zalusky

I'm Sarah Zalusky, a Partner at JKI, where I lead development on some of our most complex, long-term accounts across semiconductor manufacturing and aerospace.

My journey started with a BA in Physics. In my early college years I landed in a particle physics lab building detector systems at LBNL and CERN. Here I discovered the joy of building systems where software has a visible interaction with the outside world, and one engineer can have a real impact on the outcome. Truthfully, I’d always been a software engineer at heart, building flash games and programs for my TI-89 calculator long before I had a name for what I was doing. I left pure research for a more traditional software-focused role in industrial automation and I’ve spent the last decade architecting critical systems for manufacturing and test environments.

At JKI, my role spans architecture, engineering leadership, and product strategy. I've built and led engineering teams, and I work closely with our accounts to help them turn breakthrough technology into products that ship. I still love building software that controls physical systems, whether that's a silicon wafer moving through a tool or ground testing hardware that will one day deploy in space. It is a good day when I get to see physics applied in new and emerging technologies, and an even better day when I get to help other engineers and scientists bring their concepts to reality.

I’ve also been a longtime member of the LabVIEW community, participating in and helping to found events like the GLA summit.

Outside of work, I trade code for trail maps. I'm based in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, and most of my free time is spent outdoors with my family hiking through the mountains or canoeing on nearby lakes. I'm always looking for the next trail, the next lake, the next adventure with the people I love.
