JKI at GDevCon 6: Innovation and Community at Brighton's Premier LabVIEW Conference
We're excited to share highlights from GDevCon 6, held September 9-11, 2025, at the historic Brighton Dome in Brighton, UK. This independent, community-driven conference brought together LabVIEW developers from around the world for three days of cutting-edge presentations, hands-on learning, and invaluable networking.
JKI's Featured Presentation: LabVIEW vs. LLMs

JKI's Mark Randel and Steve Ball delivered one of the conference's most anticipated presentations: "LabVIEW vs. LLM: A Generational Showdown." This engaging session explored how Large Language Models are transforming software development, featuring a friendly competition between Steve Ball, the driving force behind Jake AI, and Mark Randel, representing 30+ years of LabVIEW expertise. The presentation demonstrated how even experienced LabVIEW developers can leverage AI tools to enhance their productivity and creativity.
Conference Highlights
Technical Excellence: The conference featured 15 diverse presentations covering everything from memory optimization and functional programming to advanced UI frameworks and open-source integration. Notable sessions included:
- Performance Optimization: Natan Biesmans delivered rapid-fire talks on data types, high-speed disk I/O, and feature detection
- Modern Architecture: Presentations on testability, observability, and scalable UI frameworks
- Open Source Innovation: Deep dives into NI LinuxRT, code distribution, and licensing considerations
Community Focus: Beyond formal presentations, the event featured interactive "GDevCon Huddles" – informal, slide-free sessions designed to spark conversations and connect developers. The Tech Cave showcased the latest hardware solutions from leading vendors including Pickering Interfaces, Farnell, Yotta Volt, Beckhoff Automation, and WATS.
Professional Networking: The three-day format provided extensive opportunities for meaningful connections within the global LabVIEW community, from seasoned architects to emerging developers.
